Around 25 kids from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Pihani block in Hardoi district became unwell after ingesting de-worming tablets on Sunday. 

According to district coordinator for KGBV Hardoi, Avinash Pandey, the girl students and the other boarders had lunch on Sunday, and then attended a local health camp. The girls received medicines for de-worming and iron deficiencies there. After returning they had dinner, the students in classes 4 and 5 complained of stomach aches, nausea, and vomiting. They were then sent to the community health centre (CHC) Pihani for treatment.

Of the 25 pupils admitted to CHC, 19 were released from the hospital in late Sunday and six others were sent to the district hospital. SDM Hardoi Swati Shukla stated that the students received the preliminary care at the CHC and they are now stable. He further added that the cause of the illness would be clear only after a proper investigation.
